The Olive Tree Initiative was founded in the hopes of bringing students of all faiths and communities together to discuss and learn about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. In recent years, increasingly radical anti-Israeli and anti-Palestinian rhetoric on university campuses has made it more difficult to talk about the issues at hand. In the face of mounting tensions, OTI hopes to refocus the discussion in an academic light that addresses potential solutions while paying proper respect to the tremendously important emotional aspect to the conflict.
Our trip this year will take us to the White House and U.N. to meet with American and international policy-makers, followed by a month’s worth of travel in Jordan, Israel, and parts of the West Bank. Our goal is to understand the situation on the ground as clearly as possible from several perspectives and to generate meaningful discussions on the issue.
